Detention Officer Steve Paris And His Family Need Your Help!

Steve Paris has worked for the City of Bedford for 12 years, and is currently a Detention Officer in the city jail. On January 29, 2019, Steve was diagnosed with Squamous Cell cancer. As anyone who has received a cancer diagnosis can tell you, his and his family’s lives were forever changed. Steve went through multiple doctor visits, surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation treatments. These procedures took a toll on Steve’s body and have caused him to lose over 45 pounds and to have some of his teeth removed. Finally, after a year of battling cancer Steve thought he was cancer free.

Unfortunately, on July 29, 2020 Steve discovered the cancer had returned to other parts of his body. Steve continues to battle for the 2nd time now, but the financial battle is also taking a toll. Steve has had to miss work for treatments and has depleted all of his time off accruals. Long term Disability has not yet started and will only be a portion of his annual salary. Steve’s wife has also had to miss work to help care for Steve and she has also depleted her time off accruals. Their 20 year old son has also been working while also attending college to help support the family.

The Bedford Municipal Police Association is committed to assisting all of our members during a time of need, and we humbly ask for your support to help support Steve and his family.
