BMPA President Retirement
After 20 years of service with the Bedford Police Department, I have announced my coming retirement effective in the Spring of 2024. It has been my honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Bedford. I started my employment as 19 year old young man and over the years I have experienced many different things that have helped mold me into the person I am today. Bedford is a great community and the support they have for our Police Department is unwavering. The members that make up the Bedford Municipal Police Association are committed to continuing their service to this community; all that they ask for in return is your continued support. Times are challenging for those in the law enforcement profession, and now more than ever we must all work together to defend and protect the peaceful community that we have in Bedford.
In preparation for my retirement, BMPA board member elections were held in October 2023. I am pleased to announce that a new President and Vice President were elected by the members. I will allow them to introduce themselves in the coming weeks, but rest assured BMPA is in good hands and they will represent this organization well.
As I reflect on my tenure in Bedford I find these words of President Theodore Roosevelt fitting; titled THE MAN IN THE ARENA:
"It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."
